No rehearsals this Friday - Happy Thanksgiving!

We will meet on December 1st for our last rehearsal for the semester.

Recital is December 7th at 7pm.

Christmas Recital

Our annual Christmas recital has been scheduled for Thursday, December 7th, at Christ Community Church - 1100 Harvard, in Lawrence.  The recital begins at 7pm, Students are asked to arrive by 6:30 that evening, to warm up and tune.

Students typically wear concert black and white to our recitals.

Thinking ahead - we DO NOT meet the Friday AFTER Thanksgiving. We will have one rehearsal between Thanksgiving and the recital, December 1st.

The "penny drive" is still going, and will be for the remainder of the school year. Thanks to all of you that have added your change - and some paper money as well.

The directors and I have been working on final preparations for the new school year.  I have emailed out a schedule to new and returning families, but want to post it here, for anyone just learning about our program. Summer is slowly slipping away - I am holding on for dear life - summer is my season!

Beginning Sewing Class

There are a few openings for the beginning sewing class - meets at 9am - 10:15 on Fridays. Location is the same as the Encore groups.

 One opening for intermediate sewing - meets at 11am - 12:15

Class fee is $95.00 per semester. Each student needs to bring a sewing machine to class each week, along with some basic sewing supplies.

World Percussion is a new group this year - kids will need a djembe. (we have a source to order this instrument from, which can be forwarded to you) $70.00 a semester

Bitty Beats is the new name for our preschool program. Miss Emily has returned from her internship and is excited to join the kids, learning through music. $55.00 a semester.

Another change is that choir is free to participate in for all enrolled guitar students.

We will begin our 15th year - we have grown so much over the years, from our first beginning group.

News and information about the new semester

Encore Homeschool Fine Arts, in Lawrence, KS, will begin our 15th year, this fall - offering a music education program to homeschooled students

Encore will be offering an opportunity to try out various band and orchestra instruments, for those wishing to join our group. We have offered this for the past six years and have found it to be successful.  Students have a chance to try any instrument that is available that day. The goal is to find a good match between the student and instrument, and move toward a great musical experience as a member of our group.

Mark your calendar for, Thursday, July 27th - from 11am to 1pm. We will meet at the Morris Baptist Center - 146 Indian Ave. - in Lawrence.  Students and their families can come and meet the directors, try string and band instruments, learn about our groups, and ask questions. The choir and pre-school music directors will be there to answer any questions as well.

Winding down

We will meet on Friday, May 5th, for the last rehearsal this semester. The spring recital will be May 9th, held at Christ Community Church - 1100 Kasold - at 7pm.

The student's should plan to arrive by 6:30, for tuning and warming up.

No rehearsals or sewing classes, April 14th

Quick reminder - our groups do not meet this Friday, April 14th - Good Friday.

Also, I will be collecting donations to go towards gift cards for the directors. If you wish to donate to your child(s) director, have money to me by May 5th, and note which director the money is for.

We hope everyone will be coming back to Encore next year, but if you do not plan to join us, please let me know. If we don't hear from you, we assume that your family will be participating.

Remember our family referral discount - that helps us all out. If you know of a group that I can send information to, let me know. We will host  a "meet and greet" in August (date to be determined). It will be an opportunity for students to try different instruments, meet the directors, and ask questions.

Spring Recital

Hello Encore Families,

Mark your calendar for Tuesday, May 9th - for our Spring Recital. Location and time is the same as our Christmas Recital.

Rehearsals start tomorrow - but read info below about preschool music

Finally some decent weather - so it is time to begin second semester.

All groups meet tomorrow - EXCEPT: Preschool Music - Miss Cindy is sick, Sounds like she has what I am getting over. She will see all those sweet preschool singers next week.

Weather Cancellation

Due to weather concerns, we are cancelling tomorrow's rehearsals. 

We have so many families that travel to Lawrence for rehearsals, it is important to keep safety first and foremost.

We will meet next Friday - January 20th - and look forward to seeing you all then!
